The Little Yogaland
Yoga or coffee? Why not both? From the moment you step into this 380-square-foot one-bedroom apartment, you can tell the homeowners’ preferences easily.
A yoga wall and a coffee bar stand side by side in the middle of the rectangular living-cum-dining room without affecting the movement inside the apartment. By installing a safe and secured yoga wall with rope hooks and belts, the lady of the home can bring this beloved exercise into her healthy and energetic daily life.
A wooden coffee bar with a round top is designed especially for the man of the home, who is a coffee fan, to display and store essential equipment and ingredients. Together, the yoga wall and the coffee counter serve as a leisure zone for the young couple to enjoy their restful and individual moments without giving up their own space for each other despite the small scale of the unit.
Small-home living is common in Hong Kong but it does not mean living in cramped conditions. One of the missions of the design project is to create comfortable and relaxing moments for the couple through careful spatial planning, flexible use of furniture and the introduction of natural light. An open-plan kitchen is designed to enhance the sense of space to the whole living area. The entire side of the unit facing east is installed with large windows and a full height glass balcony door to maximise daylight. Moreover, pastel olive green and white wall paint, floor tiles in oak wood look, light wooden furniture and glossy white kitchen contribute to the peaceful setting throughout the home.
After a long day of work, this home is the best yoga studio and coffeehouse for the couple.
