Japandi Sensation | Wan Chai

Size: 414 sq ft. net

Living member: 1 adult

Completion: 2020

Urban ZEN retreat

Wan Chai is one of the busiest area in Hong Kong. The apartment is situated in a slightly setback street, staying away from the high-density traffic, having a sense of calm & peaceful character genetically.

Only one tone of wood is applied to the interior design with a touch of grey colour, the scheme is intended to emphasise the simplicity and clarity of the space, enhancing the feeling of being a comfortable retreat from the busy cityscape.

Spaces are defined progressively in a “hotel-room” arrangement; fluency of spaces within the apartment makes almost zero obstructions in accessing different zone of spaces, while with minimal application of low partition & screen, owner can experience different spatial quality in different areas. The visual dialogue between different zones enrich the interior in an interesting way subtly.

The neutral tone of overall material creates a perfect canvas for the owner to introduce any of his wine collections, feature lights and furniture pieces to blend in peacefully, and showcase owner’s personality.

With a feature wall with the wood stripes and simple ZEN looking screen screening off the sleeping area, the different way of manipulating the same tone of wood provide just enough details without intervening the simplicity of the overall atmosphere.
