Perched to take full advantage of the peaceful riverside & racecourse view, Riverside Retreat is a reimagined 1,120 sq ft apartment for a mature professional couple seeking a calm, liveable home. We reorganised the 35‑year‑old plan by removing selected walls and adding metal screens and sliding glass doors to maximise light and maintain visual connection between zones.
A considered foyer of light‑grey tiles, a built‑in shoe cabinet and a bench makes coming and going easy.
In the living and dining areas, sheer curtains and blinds soften daylight. Warm oak planks and a soft, distressed rug add comfort underfoot. A modern L‑shaped sofa sits against a dark teal‑green wall, introducing depth and tactile texture as a composed backdrop to the TV. The dining area is convivial, centred on an oak table with mixed seating and a pair of minimalist pendants, while an Eames Lounge Chair carves out a quiet reading corner.
The open kitchen, with an olive‑green tile splashback, adds a pop of colour, encourages social cooking and echoes the forest oil painting in the dining area.
Private rooms prioritise calm and storage: the master ensuite includes expansive wardrobes, a window‑side makeup table and a soft grey‑blue feature wall; the study’s original wall was replaced with a glass sliding partition to foster visual connection and now features wall‑to‑wall shelving and a desk by the window.
Throughout, warm oak, soft greys and blue‑green accents, layered textures and careful joinery create a home that feels connected, composed and quietly centred on the view.
