USA Muse Design Awards 2022 - Silver
Italy A’ Design Award 2022 - Bronze
In a 781-square-feet apartment in the bustling area of Tsim Sha Tsui, this young family of four has created a space where their children can enjoy shared moments of laughter and have the privacy they'll need as they grow older.
Two adjoining bedrooms have been thoughtfully connected by installing an off-white sliding door, replacing the corridor wall with a three-panel sliding glass door. When these sliding partitions are opened, a spacious shared play area is available for the children to enjoy. Over time, as the siblings require individual spaces for homework and personal time, they can simply close the sliding doors, separating the bedrooms, each equipped with desks and wardrobes.
The design of the apartment focuses on creating a warm, homely atmosphere with the use of oak and walnut wood. In the dining room, a tall wooden cabinet with nine open shelves houses family photos and personal items, complementing other timber furniture and the wood-grain floor throughout the home. The wood finishes on the large bay window in the living room transform the original stone cladding into a comfortable and inviting seating area.
A carefully chosen color palette is evident throughout the apartment. The welcoming foyer features light green wallpaper, while the back panel of the wooden cabinet in the dining room is adorned in green, establishing a sense of cohesion. Indigo blue is the dominant color in the tranquil master bedroom, while a lighter blue is used in the kids' rooms to reflect their youthful energy and liveliness.
Ultimately, this apartment is a warm, flexible, and transformable space that will adapt and grow with the family as their needs evolve.
