USA Muse Design Awards 2024 - Silver Winner
This project involves the revitalization of a 48-year-old apartment with its original, outdated design, while focusing on meeting the changing needs of the owners. Despite its age, the apartment boasts remarkable features, such as abundant natural light and serene city views.
Our clients, a caring daughter and son-in-law, have entrusted us with the creation of a retirement space with a modern Bauhaus-inspired touch, tailored to the needs of their beloved parents.
Central to our design is a flexible layout that gracefully adapts to the evolving requirements of the elderly residents. The ingenious solution lies in sliding partitions that can be employed to connect or separate the bedrooms, offering a dynamic caregiving environment. Storage is a key concern, and we address it through a multifunctional closet, a cleverly positioned bookshelf, and an overall minimalist approach that maximizes the available space.
We prioritize enhancing interaction among the residents, and to achieve this, we introduce an open kitchen design. This open layout promotes seamless communication during meal preparation, creating an atmosphere of togetherness.
Our material and color choices are meticulously curated, infusing the apartment with character and a soothing, laid-back ambiance. The blend of textures and color schemes creates a sense of comfort, making this retirement space an inviting and tranquil retreat.
